UPESSC UP Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
For Assistant Teacher (Urban) Posts
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree from an institution established by law in India (or a government-recognized equivalent) and have completed a government-recognized training course—such as the Basic Teacher Certificate (BTC), Special BTC, a Diploma in Special Education approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India, or a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) degree recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) in accordance with the 2002 regulations. Additionally, passing the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the State Government or the Government of India is mandatory.
Note: The BTC course is currently being conducted under the name D.El.Ed.
For Assistant Teacher (Aided Madhyamik Vidyalay)
Candidates are eligible for the post of Assistant Teacher (Primary School) if they hold a bachelor’s degree from a university or Institution in India established by law and recognized by the government, possess a BTC or D.El.Ed. qualification from an NCTE-recognized course, and have successfully qualified the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for Classes 1 to 5 conducted by the Government of Uttar Pradesh or the Government of India.
